From Iquitos, we take a van 100 kilometers up the Maranon River to Nauta where we will meet our boat, the Calvero . This riverboat was built in Europe and delivered to the Peruvian navy during the rubber boom. We understand that it has been updated and remodeled since then!
The boat will take 2 other passengers and ourselves up the Maranon to the Samiria River and on to the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve where we will spend 7 days observing life in and along the river.
