We have solved the problem of transferring our photos. Check back next weekend to see more photos of the wildlife in Pacaya-Samiria, our boat trip to Manaus starting Wednesday, June 18, etc.
Today, instead of taking a two-day rather sketchy (according to our travel agent) boat trip between these two Amazonian ports, we took a 55-minute plane trip over vast expanses of jungle and rivers.

If Iquitos reminded John of Guayaquil 50 years ago when he was there in the Peace Corps, Leticia (40,000 population) gave us the impression of a more economically prosperous town. Even the three-wheeled motocarros are more substantial. They have motors in the back and a structure that protects passengers from the rain better than those of Iquitos.
We are staying in the Waira, a modern, centrally-located hotel.
One of the interesting events occurring in the town is arrival at 5:30 pm of masses of small parrots which nest nightly in the central plaza. We expect to see it before we leave for Manaus on Wednesday.
